Matthew 5:47- “And
if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? Do not even the
publicans so?”:
In this verse lies the litmus test of matured Christianity.
While avoiding the compromise of our precious faith and refusing the embrace of
a filthy world, believers are expected to show maturity and Christlikeness
which many claim, in the way we treat those whom some of us see as outcasts in
the pit of sin.
We must know that God has no outcast among men as long as they
are still alive, but ‘those sheep that will later join the fold’; and until
eternity comes upon us all, no man is yet to be termed, ‘castaway’.
In this we
see Christ, while hating sin, still loves the sinners, knowing fully well that
the ‘Saul’ today who persecuted the church can be the ‘Paul’ tomorrow who will
be a pillar in the same church.
Brother, do you show love only to your brethren,
salute only your Pastor, render help only to your church members; then you’re
not in any way better than the unbelievers in the world, for they do that much
more. Let us be like our Christ.
